A thin skinned grape which produces white wines from sweet to bone dry and everything in between! Susceptible to noble rot it is famous for the dessert wines from Sauternes, at the other end of the scale are the Hunter Valley Sémillons which are gloriously dry. The third most planted grape in France as it is used in many dry white Bordeaux wines blended with Sauvignon Blanc. A highly versatile variety.
